- If using Single User to connect to SQL Server, add user(s) similar to the sample DESIGNER user in new_sqlserver_users.sql. User is identified by a password.
- Execute your modified script from within SQL Server Management Studio.
Setting up Single User SQL Server sign-on
- Run EDConfiguration.exe with Administrator privileges from the Installed Program Files location (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\OpenUtilitiesDesigner V8i\OpenUtilitiesDesigner\).
- Enter the User Name and Password from Step 9b of the "To attach the sample database to SQL Server for the Workflow Manager" section.

To create an Oracle database instance for the Workflow Manager
Install Oracle Server and create a new database. The initialization parameters should be as follows:
Oracle Release | Initial Settings |
---|---|
10.2.0.1.0 |
CURSOR_SHARING = SIMILAR OPEN_CURSORS = 2500 PROCESSES = 220 *OS_AUTHENT_PREFIX = *REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT = TRUE |
11.1.0.6.0 11.2.0.x |
CURSOR_SHARING = SIMILAR OPEN_CURSORS = 2500 PROCESSES = 220 *OS_AUTHENT_PREFIX = *REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT = TRUE |
*These initialization parameters are only required if using the OS Authentication for Oracle login.
To load the Oracle database for the Workflow Manager
If you have not created a database instance, please refer to the instructions, To create an Oracle database instance for the Workflow Manager.
- Find the Database folder located in the extracted installation folder, typically C:\BentleyDownloads\ OpenUtilitiesDesigner_08.11.09.xx\Database.
- Copy the Oracle dump file BUDV8i.dmp from the Database\BUDRefDBDump sub folder to the directory path of the server-based directory object, DATA_PUMP_DIR.
- Enter the sub folder Database\LoadFromDump\New.
- Edit the tablespace.sql file and change the paths to the correct location for tablespaces to be created in your database instance.
- Edit the new_edusers.sql
file and add the required users who will use
Bentley OpenUtilities
.
-
If using OS Authentication to connect to Oracle, add user(s) similar to the sample ADMINISTRATOR user in new_edusers.sql. User names must be the same as Windows login names and password is identified externally.
- If using Single User to connect to Oracle, add user(s) similar to the sample BUDUSER user in new_edusers.sql. User is identified by a password.
-
- Run the batch file new_db.bat with required parameters.
-
Review the log file DB_IMPORT.log (located at the directory path of the server-based directory object, DATA_PUMP_DIR) for errors. Table drop error can typically be ignored.
- Log into SQLPLUS as sys user
and execute (<username> = one of the users added in Step 8):
update chdata.userlogin set username='<username>', firstname='Firstname', lastname='Lastname' where username='administrator';
commit;
If using OS Authentication for Oracle login, test the database from the command prompt by executing the statement sqlplus /@net_service_name. If this fails, please refer to Oracle documentation to set up OS Authentication correctly. If using Single User for Oracle login, test the database from the command prompt by executing the statement sqlplus username/password@net_service_name.
Setting up Single User Oracle sign-on
- Run EDConfiguration.exe with Administrator privileges from the Installed Program Files location (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\OpenUtilitiesDesigner V8i\OpenUtilitiesDesigner\).
- Enter the User Name and Password from Step 5b of the "To load the Oracle database for Workflow Manager" section.
- Use the "Connect" button to verify that the connection information works.
